Judges 8

Gideon and his men defeat the Midianites with God’s help, bringing peace to Israel. Gideon declines to become king, declaring that the Lord will rule over the people. However, he makes an ephod that leads the Israelites into idolatry. After Gideon dies, the people turn away from God and worship false gods once again.
