Leadership Class 2026 Week 2

In week 2, Pastor Jonah covers the preface of the Calvary Chapel Distinctives (The Call to the Ministry). The main theme focuses on how different leadership in the kingdom of God is from leadership in the world. In the world, one takes a position based on what one receives in return. In the kingdom, one takes leadership positions regardless of what they offer. One takes a position of leadership because they are called by God. As such, it is important to ask the question "Are you convinced God is calling you into the ministry?" For those who are called, it is not an option but a necessity to answer the call. To the one who is called, it is important to know that ministry is not all glamor. Leaders in the church don't lead by lording it over the ones they lead. They lead by lowering themselves and serving. Those called into ministry can expect to take on any task (There are no menial ones). The leader in the church serves Christ first, and also His children. The rewards for service? Well, they are not received in this life but are stored up as treasures in heaven!
